P060694

Control Module Processor Unexpected Operation

Condition where output of the accelerator opening angle value used for control is more excessive than that of the accelerator opening angle value used for monitoring is continuously detected for 0.2 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic).

  • Accelerator pedal sensor assembly
  • Wire harness or connector
  • ECM

  • SAE Code: P0606
  • DTC for Mexico Models: Applies

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM calculates the accelerator pedal opening angle value used for control and the value used for monitoring. If the ECM determines there is an excessive output while the engine is running, a DTC is stored and the MIL is illuminated.

HINT:

  • After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

  • When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the "CLEAR PERMANENT DTC" procedure.

    Click here 2021 - 2024 MY RAV4 RAV4 HV [08/2020 -        ]; A25A-FKS (ENGINE CONTROL): SFI SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  3. Turn the Techstream on.
  4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
  5. Turn the Techstream off.
  6. Turn the ignition switch off.
  7. Disconnect the Techstream.
  8. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and wait for 1 minute.
  9. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
  10. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  11. Start the engine [A].
  12. Turn the Techstream on.
  13. With the vehicle stopped, repeat the accelerator pedal operation (press the accelerator pedal from a state where it is not depressed) several times [B].
  14. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes [C].
  15. Read the pending DTCs.

    HINT:

    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  16. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
  17. Input the DTC: P060694.
  18. Check the DTC judgment result.

    • System normal

    ABNORMAL

    • DTC judgment completed
    • System abnormal

    INCOMPLETE

    • DTC judgment not completed
    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

    HINT:

    • If the judgment result is NORMAL, the system is normal.
    • If the judgment result is ABNORMAL, the system is malfunctioning.
    • If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE, perform steps [A] through [C] again.
    • [A] to [C]: Normal judgment procedure.

The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.

    • When clearing the permanent DTCs, do not disconnect the cable from the battery terminal or attempt to clear the DTCs during this procedure, as doing so will clear the universal trip and normal judgment histories.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

After turning ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

HINT:

Read Freeze Frame Data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as Freeze Frame Data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, Freeze Frame Data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
