                  PROCEDURE
                   
                  1. INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY STOPPER 
                  
                     
                        
                           | 
                               (a) Attach the claw and install the back door upper stay stopper to the back door lower damper stay bracket LH. 
                            | 
                           
                              
                            | 
                         
                     
                   
                   
                  2. INSTALL BACK DOOR LOWER DAMPER STAY BRACKET LH 
                  (a) Clean the bolt holes in the vehicle body. 
                  
                     
                        
                           | 
                               (b) Temporarily install the back door lower damper stay bracket LH with back door stay stopper with the 2 new bolts. 
                            | 
                           
                              
                            | 
                         
                     
                   
                  (c) Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration. 
                  Torque:  
                  9.0 N·m {92 kgf·cm, 80 in·lbf} 
                  HINT: 
                  With the door closed, install the back door damper stay lower bracket LH so that the arrow marker is facing the top side of the vehicle. 
                   
                  3. INSTALL BACK DOOR UPPER DAMPER STAY BRACKET LH 
                  (a) Clean the bolt holes in the vehicle body. 
                  
                     
                        
                           | 
                               (b) Temporarily install the back door upper damper stay bracket LH with the 2 new bolts. 
                            | 
                           
                              
                            | 
                         
                     
                   
                  (c) Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration. 
                  Torque:  
                  9.0 N·m {92 kgf·cm, 80 in·lbf} 
                  HINT: 
                  With the door closed, install the back door damper stay upper bracket LH so that the arrow marker is facing the top side of the vehicle. 
                   
                  4. INSTALL POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY LH 
                  
                     CAUTION: 
                     
                        - 
Do not perform work if the back door is not securely supported.
 
                        - 
The back door could fall, resulting in injury.
 
                      
                   
                   
                  
                     NOTICE: 
                     
                        - 
Avoid touching the piston rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the cylinder while servicing.
 
                        - 
Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the piston rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.
 
                        - 
Do not apply any horizontal load to the power back door unit assembly LH in order to prevent it from deforming.
 
                      
                   
                  
                     
                        
                           | 
                               (a) Attach the 2 ball joints to install the power back door unit assembly LH. 
                              NOTICE: 
                              Install the power back door unit assembly LH while supporting the back door by hand. 
                            | 
                           
                              
                            | 
                         
                     
                   
                  (b) Check that the power back door unit assembly LH is engaged to the ball joints and that it cannot be pulled out. 
                  (c) Insert the harness through the service hole in the back door panel and connect the grommet. 
                   
                  
                     
                        
                        
                     
                     
                        
                           
                               
                            | 
                           
                               Install in this Direction
